DISTEMPER: |
This is a very contagious disease of DOGS. It is caused by a virus and is airborne ( transmitted by air). It starts with a cough and discharge from the nose, as the disease progresses, the virus moves to the Gastro-Intestinal tract and causes vomiting and diarrhea. As the disease progresses the nervous system becomes involved and signs of incoordination, fever and seizures are observed. This disease frequently cases death. Young, unvaccinated puppies are at most risk. Vaccination is very effective. Distemper is not contagious to cats or people. |

PARVOVIRUS: |
This is also a very contagious disease of DOGS. It also caused by a virus. It is transmitted by ingestion of materials that are contaminated with the virus. This virus can survive for extended periods of time on dry surfaces. Bleach needs to be used to disinfect all " in contact" surfaces. This virus destroys the lining of the intestines. Dogs that are infected develop vomiting, diarrhea and lethargy. Animals quickly get dehydrated, develop secondary bacterial infections and die from toxic shock and heart failure. Unvaccinated puppies are at greatest risk. Vaccines are very effective in prevention of this dangerous disease. This virus is not contagious to cats or people. |
 |
CORONA: |
This is also a contagious disease of DOGS, caused by a virus. Dogs get infected by ingesting the virus. It also causes vomiting and diarrhea, but in a much milder and shorter duration than parvovirus. Hospitalization is usually not required to treat this disease. Vaccine is very effective. This virus is also not contagious to Cats or People.

HEPATITIS: |
This disease is also caused by a virus. Dogs get infected by ingesting or inhaling the virus. This virus infects liver cells, cases liver failure and can cause death in as little as several hours. |
 |
LEPTOSPIROSIS: |
This disease is caused by bacteria. Animals get infected by ingesting water that has leptospirosis bacteria in it. Sometimes this bacteria can infect animals and people through an intact skin or mucus membranes during swimming in contaminated water. This bacteria infects kidneys and causes kidney failure. Infected animals can pass the bacteria in their urine.
Vaccine is effective. |

PARAINFLUENZA: |
Viral disease of dogs, transmitted by inhalation of the virus. Causes pneumonia. Vaccination is very effective. |
